I2C panel available

We finished the first version of a dashboard for laser operation. It's based on a 2x16 digits LCD and a 12 button keyboard. It connects to our mainboard using the I2C protocol.

The panel uses an Arduino as a brain. It's  very easy to change. We hope other open hardware projects can benefit from this design as well!

About LaOS

The LaOS project strives to produce an open source environment for laser cutting.

We do not build laser cutters, but we convert existing machines by replacing the driver board with our own.

The project consists of:

  • Platform independent PC software to send files to your laser cutter
  • Embedded computer board to replace the driver board of your laser
  • Firmware for our embedded boards

The LAOS project was initiated by Peter Brier (KekkeTek), Jaap Vermaas (Fab Lab Truck), Jelle Boomsma and Siert Wijnia (Protospace).
